4.22.2024 - HOW TO PLAY FOR FREE!
Starting this session, anyone who can recruit a NEW APA Member will receive a "Free Play" card. This can be placed in your envelope instead of the $10 for your match. This new APA Member, does not need to be on your team, and can be a friend, family member, or just a random person you run into. Just make sure you coordinate with Jim, and get them on a team!
4.4.2024 - League Start Times
Starting this session we are moving most league start times up to 7:00 PM. We are hoping to cut back on the long nights that some teams are experiencing. There are additional strategies that teams can implement on their own to curb this issue including, making sure players are ready when they are called, no unnecessary breaks in the middle of games and of course PUNCTUALITY!
* Thursday Travel will still start at 8:00pm and play on 2 tables
** The New Sunday Division will start at 6:00pm
4.3.2024 - Week 1 Summer Session starts the week of April 21st for all divisions (except Lehigh Travel)
We are excited for the new league year (Summer Session) that will qualify teams for the 2024/2025 World Championship Tournament in Las Vegas. The Lee County APA will have a new playoff format which will mirror the rest of the APA. This is similar to the way we always did things, however will make the tournaments much quicker and easier for everyone involved. You have already started to see changes with the Money Cups, which are going to be replaced with “Tri Cups”. This is part of the APA qualifying system used around the country and Canada.
Starting with the Summer Session, not all teams will qualify for playoffs. This will deal a major blow to teams that sandbag, and make weekly play more competitive. In most divisions 1st place will automatically qualify. 2nd place vs Wildcard, and 3rd place vs 4th place. The last place team will not qualify for playoffs. This will be explained in detail in the new bylaws which will be out by week 1 of play.
Playoffs will be 1 week, and the next session will start the week following. Teams that win playoffs will advance to the “Tri Cup Tournament”. This is a tournament that will play down only a few rounds, and qualify multiple teams for the “World Qualifier Tournament” (old Vegas Cup). The World Qualifier Tournament, will be a much smaller and quicker tournament that will not take a month to decide a winner.
4.3.2024 - Clarification of the Replay/Ghost/Double Play Rule
There has been a lot of confusion about what is allowed with the Replay Rule. Teams that use the replay rule cannot send players home after the first or second match, they must stay because the opposing team may select that person to play the replay match.
The Replay Rule can only be used ONCE PER NIGHT. If you only have 3 players, you cannot double shoot 2 players. You can use the replay for one, and forfeit the 2nd.
You must tell your opponent that you will use the replay rule before the start of the 4th match.
You cannot use the Replay Rule in the last week of play or in playoffs.
YOUR OPPONENT GETS TO PICK WHO DOUBLE SHOOTS. See more details in the Lee County APA bylaws.
4.3.2024 - Regarding Makeup Matches
Makeup matches will be automatically forfeited and NO POINTS AWARDED TO EITHER TEAM if they are not made up within 2 weeks of the originally scheduled date. If the opposing team is making it difficult to make the match up within this time period you MUST IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY JIM. This will be STRICTLY ENFORCED.
If you decide to makeup a match, you may be responsible to rent the pool table from the host location at the full hourly rate. There is nothing the Lee County APA can do about this.
SCORESHEETS CAN BE RELEASED EARLY to help provide more time to makeup the matches. So if you know your team is not going to be able to make the scheduled match, and you need more than 2 weeks to play, contact the office and get the scoresheet released early.
4.3.2024 - Regarding Bonus Points
Bonus Points will not be awarded to teams that show any debt. Also, teams that show a debt will have to be current before they enter playoffs or tournaments.
4.3.2024 - Greens Fee's
Diamond Billiards will now be charging $5 greens fees per team for weekly play. The Lee County APA will collect the money for these fees, and distribute them to Diamond Billiards weekly.
This is in addition to the $50 weekly team fee. Please make sure you are enclosing $55 total into your envelope, as short envelopes will not receive bonus points.
Green’s fees for tournament teams are $20 per team. This will be collected at the start of the tournament.
